THEY'RE generally good at sniffing out truffles, but some wild boars in Italy got a little more than they bargained for after coming across a stash of cocaine hidden in a forest.
Narcotics dealers allegedly buried the drugs, worth about $60,000, in Tuscany's Valdichiana valley, but were dismayed to find the packages scattered throughout the woods when they went to retrieve them.
A phone tap tipped off the police to the incident, leading to the arrest of the gang which is claimed to have traded about 2kg of cocaine each month in nightclubs in the city of Arezzo.
It's unclear what the effect of the drugs were on the animals, but locals were on the lookout for a pack of plastered porkers.

That's the suggestion of a researcher from the University of Malmo in Sweden, who have published a study saying meetings can be seen as a type of "therapy" rather than actually a forum for decision-making.
Professor Patrick Hall particularly highlighted long meetings, which are theoretically a place to work on company strategy, but actually serve as an "opportunity to complain and be acknowledged by colleagues".
He also noted that while some meetings seem pointless to those taking part, they can sometimes be used to assert the authority of an organisation.
