EVERYBODY needs a 'comfort break' from time to time, but one medical professional probably took it too far.
Anesthesiologist Dr Suhail Anjum was mid-way through a surgical procedure to remove somebody's gall bladder when he casually 'excused himself' to have sex with a nurse in another operating room at Tameside Hospital in Manchester.
Dr Anjum was caught in the act by another nurse assisting the procedure, who then reported it to her line manager.
The 'busy doctor' apparently returned to the operating room after eight minutes away and successfully completed his work.
According to the Independent, Dr Anjum didn't deny the charge when he was hauled before the hospital's ethics committee and promptly terminated, even though the act was consensual.
The doctor returned to his native Pakistan after the incident but has since applied to work again in the UK, with the General Medical Council reviewing the request.
