FOR generations British parents have feared for the safety of their bag-packing 20-something-year-old children, as they ventured to Australia, a land of snakes, spiders and sharks.
Well... one Essex mother believes her neighbours need to be more concerned about the creatures slithering around closer to home, after her 11-year-old was bitten by a snake in a local park.
Renata Teper-Gniadkowska, told EssexLive that her son had not initially realised he had been nipped by a serpent, but developed a pain in his leg after he got home.
At first the 40-year-old mum said she was unsure what was causing the pain, but realised it was a snake bite after searching on Google.
Thankfully for all concerned the snake involved in the incident was nonvenomous, and the boy's ailment could be treated with some antibiotic cream and paracetamol.
Teper-Gniadkowska called on the local council to trim the grass to prevent creatures from lurking there, and warned parents and pet owners to be vigilant of the potential dangers hiding in the long grass.
