MELBOURNE pharmacist and developer of the CueDose electronic pill pack Julie Williams has now launched a wholesale platform to help get the device into pharmacies.
CueDose is a pill organiser with a built-in alarm, providing users with a reminder when they need to take their tablets.
Also featuring bluetooth connectivity, the device can be integrated with smartphone app Pill Calendar, which enables the user or their carer to upload information about the different medicines, including photos, which is handy for people taking more than one medicine.
When the alarm sounds, the user consults their phone, which will show them which pill/s they need to take.
Williams told Pharmacy Daily the device is a first for the Australian market, and a marked step up from travellers' pill boxes, Webster packs and the like.
"There's an app for everything these days and there are devices for everything, but there was nothing linking pill boxes with technology," she said.
"I thought, 'what if you could have one that actually had a built-in alarm - so it was an electronic pillbox'."
"So I did my research and ended up collaborating with a manufacturer in China."
After launching an e-commerce store in Jul this year, Williams' move into wholesaling, with an online portal, allows pharmacies and other retailers to order direct.
