THE Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) has released its five-year strategy for pharmacy education and assessment in Australia, setting out four key themes that will guide its work through to 2030.
The vision places a strong emphasis on demonstrating the APC's value to the profession, supporting workforce development, embedding cultural safety for First Nations people, and promoting organisational resilience.
"[The strategy] reflects our deep focus on supporting pharmacists in achieving general registration and strengthening workforce capability, recognising the increasing complexity of healthcare, and the need for a future-ready pharmacy workforce," a spokesperson for APC said.
The four pillars of the 2025-2030 strategy are:
* empowering pharmacy within the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme, upholding excellence to ensure the profession remains safe, capable and responsive to community needs;
* advancing the pharmacy workforce by supporting the growth and evolution of the profession;
* ensuring a culturally safe environment for First Nations pharmacists and patients; and
* building an ethical, resilient and sustainable organisation.
"This strategy is about shaping a safe future for pharmacy in Australia through education and assessment," said APC Chair, Professor Sarah Roberts-Thomson.
"It reflects our values, our responsibilities, and our ambition to lead with purpose and deliver meaningful outcomes for the profession and the people we serve," she added.
