HIGH doses of vitamin D will not stop children aged one to five years catching colds, according to a Canadian study published by JAMA.
Previous studies have shown that children are more likely to catch colds if they have low levels of vitamin D, so researchers compared the impact of high dose vs. low dose supplements on infections in the age group.
The University of Toronto authors say their findings do not support the use of high dose vitamin D supplementation in children.
