RUB on soles of feet twice daily.
Another one from the unusual
remedies archives, once again
from our friends at People’s
Pharmacy, comes a reader’s
tale of rubbing Vicks VapoRub
on the soles of her husband’s
feet to calm a “horrible deep
cough”.
Apparently, the remedy
worked, but the couple then
used it for 12 days before the
husband saw a doctor, who
promptly diagnosed him with
pneumonia and put him on
antibiotics and prednisone.
The pharmacists’ reply to the
letter was pretty spot on:
“We are impressed that
Vicks VapoRub on the soles
of the feet actually helped a
serious cough that signalled
pneumonia.
“We do NOT recommend
toughing it out with a home
remedy as long as your hubby
did.”
CANKEROUS jalapenos.
Another reader recommended
jalapenos peppers to cure
canker sores.
The pharmacists said this
was the first they’d heard of
peppers’ protective powers for
painful canker sores.
