$11.4m for dementia

The Turnbull government has announced a redirection of funds from the Health and Ageing budget to provide $11.4m to prioritise assistance for people living with dementia and their local communities. Announcing a new dual approach to caring for Australia’s estimated 350,000 people living with dementia, the Coalition said it will tag $7.5m to establish Specialist Dementia Care Units, complementing Severe Behaviour Response Teams or existing residential care services.
