THE Australian Competition &
Consumer Commission is seeking
submissions from interested parties
on Medicines Australia’s revised
Code.
The industry body is currently in the
process of seeking authorisation for
its Code of Conduct Edition 17,
which sets standards for the
advertising and promotion of
pharmaceutical products.
Changes to the current Code in
the updated edition are designed to
increase transparency surrounding
the interactions between Medicines
Australia member companies,
healthcare professionals and patients.
These changes include a
requirement for members
to report on any payments made to
healthcare professionals to provide
consulting services.
Other changes require member
companies to report on any
payments made to healthcare
professionals to act on advisory
boards.
Submissions should be made by
30 July 2012.
