AMERICAN pharmacy giant Walgreens has reported a strong quarter, with its retail division posting sales of US$22.5 billion for the three months to 31 Dec - up 9%.
Weakness in grocery lines was offset by growth in beauty and health-and-wellness categories, while prescription volumes surged.
Chief operating officer Alex Gourley warned, however, that drug-price deflation was inevitable with increased sales of generics.
