THE Victorian Liberal National opposition has promised to develop a "comprehensive state-wide health workforce strategy" in order to address significant staffing shortages affecting a range of health professions in the state.
The $1m plan will identify the changing needs of the health sector, the number and types of health professionals Victoria needs now and in the future.
Vic Guild branch president Anthony Tassone backed the plan, saying "challenges in recruiting pharmacists is a continual concern raised by pharmacy proprietors, especially in rural areas".
He said the Guild was committed to being "part of the solution" by working with all levels of govt and other stakeholders.
