THE Iowa Pharmacy Board in the USA has filed a new proposal to help identify patients who might be abusing prescription painkillers.
Currently pharmacists in the state have to submit information to the Iowa Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) when they dispense opioids, with the enhancement set to also require prescribers to be part of the program.
Changes to the PMP are proposed to be implemented by early Apr.
