The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) is working
with three intravenous saline
solution manufacturers to address
a shortage.
The FDA said the shortage,
particularly of the saline injection,
had been triggered by a range
of factors including a reported
increased hospital demand,
possibly related to the flu season.
The FDA has said it was working
with Baxter International Inc,
Hospira Inc and B. Braun Medical
Inc to minimise the impact of the
