AUSTRALIA’S largest ever survey
of young people’s opinions on drug
and alcohol policy found young
people felt they were active choice
makers who wanted access to
reliable evidence and information
for informed decision making.
The National Drug and Alcohol
Research Centre (NDARC) surveyed
more than 2,300 people aged 16
to 25 years old and found that
two thirds said treatment and
rehabilitation of drug users was an
effective response.
While two thirds agreed that
drug education in schools provided
helpful information, only 36.6%
thought it helped prevent young
people from using drugs or alcohol,
which NDARC said raised questions
about information efficacy.
