TGA seeks new advisors

THE Therapeutic Goods
Administration has issued a call for
expressions of interest from experts
on a number of its key advisory
committees.
More than 50 advisors are being
sought from a range of fields,
with the appointments expected
to commence in early 2014 for a
period of up to three years.
Places are available on Advisory
Committees in areas including
Biologicals, Medical Devices,
Complementary Medicines,
Prescription Medicines, Non-
Prescription Medicines, the Safety
of Medicines and the Safety of
Medical Devices.
“If you have expertise in relevant
clinical or scientific fields or
appropriate consumer issues, and
want to contribute to the regulation
of therapeutic goods in Australia,
we would like to hear from you,”
the TGA says on its website.
Applicants can indicate a
preferred committee, but final
membership will be in light of the
experience required and ensuring
an appropriate cross representation
of expertise across all committees.
Expressions of interest will be
valid for 12 months and also
may be used, if suitable, to fill
unexpected committee vacancies
and may also be put forward for
other TGA expert committees.
Remuneration and travel
for all TGA statutory advisory
committees is in accordance with
the latest Remuneration Tribunal
determinations, and members are
bound by committee-in-confidence
obligations, as well as obligations
to declare all potential conflicts of
interest.
