THE TGA has implemented a new measure in response to the shortage of Orencia (abatacept) 125mg single dose syringe and the 125mg ClickJect autoinjector for subcutaneous injection.
Effective from yesterday, a Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument (SSSI) has been introduced by TGA.
The SSSI empowers Australian pharmacists to substitute one form of the medication for the other where appropriate, without requiring a new prescription from the prescriber.
The TGA stated this adjustment is designed to ensure pharmacy customers continue to receive their essential medication without interruption amid supply challenges.
