TGA drug update

January 8, 2016

THE Therapeutic Drug Administration has updated its list of designated orphan drugs. Orphan drugs are defined by the TGA as a “medicine or vaccine that is intended to treat, prevent of diagnose a rare disease” or a product “that’s not commercially viable to supply to treat, prevent or diagnose another condition”. MONTU Group, its subsidiary Alternaleaf Pty Ltd, and their common director Christopher Strauch are facing legal action by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in the Federal Court of Australia for alleged unlawful advertising on the effectiveness of their medicinal cannabis products.
