THE Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has launched a new Standard of Practice for clinical pharmacy technicians.
SHPA CEO, Kristin Michaels, showcased the new Standard of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians to Support Clinical Pharmacy Services, which outlines how pharmacy technicians can undertake a range of ward-based administrative, supply, technical and cognitive activities.
Chair of SHPA's Pharmacy Technician Role Redesign Steering Committee, Trudy Teasdale, said the new document incorporated best practice from across Australia.
"We've gathered the views and expertise of a broad range of members over many months of consultation," she said.
"This major revision modernises this important document to better reflect the value that technicians provide to our patients when working in a clinical pharmacy setting."
The document is available online at shpa.org.au.
