PSA walk-a-thon

THIS week the Pharmaceutical
Society of Australia launched its
very own staff walk-a-thon.
Designed as a “lead by example”
health improvement exercise, the
walk-a-thon aims to calculate how
many times PSA staffers can walk
the distance around Australia
before PAC10 in Oct.
The walk-a-thon also aims to
increase awareness of the need for
office workers to fit exercise into
their daily routine.
As part of the initative, staff are
being encouraged to weigh and
measure themselves so that they
can track their total losses at the
conclusion of the program.
Staff are aiming to walk a minimum
of 8km a day (or 10,000 steps).
GSK has jumped on the
bandwagon, donating 50
pedometers to the PSA so that staff
can track their steps.
“We are delighted to be part of
this initiative and know that
pedometers are important as many
people are surprised at just how few
steps they take during the normal
course of their daily routine,” said
GSK marketing manager, Rod
Stosic.
The results of the walk-a-thon are
set to be revealed at PAC10, but if
