Pneumococcal vaccine

THE incidence of pneumococcal disease in Australia has been substantially reduced by universal vaccination of young children and older adults, according to an update from Australian Prescriber. Universal immunisation for the disease was introduced in 2005, resulting in good “herd immunity”.
