THE High Court of Australia has
rejected a legal challenge by big
tobacco against Australia’s plain
packaging of tobacco laws.
Under the laws all tobacco
products sold in Australia must be
in plain packaging by 1 Dec 2012.
Described by the Government as
a watershed moment for tobacco
control around the world, the
decision means that from
December plain packaging will
restrict tobacco industry logos,
brand imagery, colours and
promotional text appearing on
packs, whilst all brand and product
names will be in a standard colour,
position and standard font size and
style. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 16 Aug 12 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 16 Aug 12
THE Australian Government has lowered the age of eligibility for its free National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) to 45, unlocking access to the test kits to more than 1.6 million Australians.
