SWEDEN’S health regulator
has published a report on the
controversial PIP breast implants,
recommending that they be
removed from patients as a
precautionary measure.
According to the Swedish Medical
Products Agency, the PIP implants
“have a poorer mechanical
durability and, in a number of
cases, contain an irritant substance
in significantly higher levels than
other silicone breast implants”.
The most recent update on
the issue from the TGA said that
extensive testing “has not detected
the presence of any substances in
PIP silicone gel implants that are
