APP Chairman Kos Sclavos said the decision was made based on a number of health and safety concerns.
Australian Pharmacy Professional (APP) Conference & Exhibition, scheduled to begin 18 Mar, has been postponed.
The event, due to bring over 6,000 people together on the Gold Coast, is currently being condensed into a reduced program, APP Online, for registered delegates to view streamed content and recorded sessions.
“The ongoing disruption caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in global company travel restriction policies which are impacting upon speakers and the trade exhibition,” said Sclavos, who added new dates for the event were being organised.
It is understood the postponement will cost the Queensland Branch of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia around $2.5 million.
