Advice from the Victorian
Department of Health has pointed
out that a photographic image
of a prescription does not form
the basis for a lawful supply of a
prescription, and the physical copy
of the script ultimately needs to be
supplied to authorise dispensing.
The department was responding
to a report on the new ‘Send a
Script” pharmacy smartphone
application (PD 07 Jun).
Chris Falcke, Senior Drugs
and Poisons Officer told PD:
“Whilst electronic transmission
of prescriptions will be a future
development, regulation 15 of
the Drugs Poisons and Controlled
Substances Regulations 2006
currently prohibits a pharmacist
from supplying Schedule 4 and
Schedule 8 poisons other than on
an original prescription.”The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 28 Jun 13 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 28 Jun 13
IN WESTERN Australia, Michael’s Chemist Group has started stocking therapeutic Nicotine Vaping Products (NVPs), pursuant to the Federal Government’s new vaping laws (PD 25 Mar).
