ASSOCIATE professor Brian
Owler, a Sydney neurosurgeon, has
been elected the new Australian
Medical Association (AMA) Federal
president, taking over from Dr
Steve Hambleton after three years.
Dr Stephen Parnis was elected
vice president.
Owler said one of his first
priorities was to speak with the
Government about the patient
co-payments and other Budget
decisions, including public hospital
and Indigenous health funding, the
AMA said.
Owler was the face and driving
force of the ‘Don’t Rush’ antispeeding
