THE Medicines Partnership of Australia (MPA) has issued a statement collating the positions of all its member organisations on the controversial King Review of pharmacy remuneration and regulation in Australia.
The Pharmacy Guild, Medicines Australia, the Australian Self-Medication Industry, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association and the National Pharmaceutical Services Association have all expressed concerns over parts of the Review.
The combined statement warns the proposed options "threaten the stability of a system that has delivered for Australian patients over a long period of time and is not in need of a major overhaul".
MPA chair Donna Staunton said if the review proceeds on its current trajectory negative impacts would be felt right across the pharmaceutical supply chain, ultimately increasing prices and reducing choices for consumers.
