Medicines Australia (MA) this
morning released the first report
on Advisory Boards, detailing
payments to these groups of health
professionals which give advice to
pharmaceutical companies about
their products (PD breaking news).
MA ceo Brendan Shaw said
the move was the latest stage in
expanding industry transparency
as detailed in the latest MA Code
of Conduct, with further reports
on payments to healthcare
professional consultants and health
consumer organisations due early
in 2014.
“The new provisions in Edition
17 of the Code are a major step
towards greater transparency,
providing greater confidence that
interactions between healthcare
professionals and companies are
appropriate,” he said.
