HEALTH Minister Greg Hunt has announced his intention to require all workers within aged care facilities in Australia to be immunised against influenza.
Hunt said compulsory vaccinations would be introduced before next year's flu season, with the measure following an uprecedented series of influenza deaths in nursing homes in Vic and Tas this winter.
He said chief medical officer Brendan Murphy had been tasked with working with the aged care sector to implement the initiative.
