A new business called Medical Organic Cannabis Australia has announced plans to build a $20 million "pharmaceutical grade" cannabis cultivation and production facility in Australia.
The company says it will use an "aquaponic" process from Canada in which plants, fish and microbes develop into a natural ecosystem for growing organic cannabis.
The system uses 90% less water than conventional agriculture, with a by-product benefit that fish such as barramundi and tilapia can be bred and marketed to restaurants.
