A REPORT in Nature Medicine
magazine found that mice fed a
high-fiber diet were protected
against allergic inflammation in the
lung.
The report said a low-fiber diet
increased allergic airway disease
and decreased levels of short chain
fatty acids (SCFAs).
“Our results show that dietary
fermentable fiber and SCFAs
can shape the immunological
environment in the lung and
influence the severity of allergic
inflammation.”
