HEALTH professionals in Scotland have warned that penis Botox and filler injections could be lethal, as a number of unregulated pop-up clinics have begun offering men treatment for erectile dysfunction and or penis enlargements.
While the potential size-increasing effects of filler injections may be self-evident, any benefits arising from the muscle-relaxing effects of Botox are less obvious.
However, it apparently makes the penis hang lower when flaccid, thus appearing larger.
The pop-up clinics feature unlicensed practitioners using unsafe medical practices and unapproved treatments, as well as deceptive social media marketing tactics.
Botched procedures have resulted in men having their penises amputated, according to a doctor on STV News.
Even in experienced hands, the procedures carry risks such as infection, allergy, necrosis or even death, said Edinburgh doctor Ben Taylor-Davies, who works in private practice as well as a hospital emergency department.
"These are not treatments I'd ever recommend any patient undertake and if they were considering them, seeing an experienced urological surgeon would be vital," he told STV News.
"This is the latest example of why urgent regulation of the surgical and non-surgical aesthetics industry is needed in order to protect the public from harm," he said.
