SURGEONS at a hospital in
Mumbai, India had the shock of
their life when a dead man on
whom they were just about to
conduct an autopsy woke up on
the post-mortem table.
According to Mumbai deputy
police commissioner Ashok
Dudhe, a doctor at the Lokmanya
Tilak Municipal General Hospital
had certified that the homeless
man was dead after he was found
unconscious and suffering from
multiple infections.
The body was taken to the
morgue, and “as the autopsy was
about to begin, the man awoke,
triggering chaos after which the
doctors rushed to the room.
“They snatched the death
certificate from my staff and tore
it up,” Dudhe said.
A hospital spokesman said the
police had forced the error by
asking medical staff to examine
the man on the road outside the
hospital, because they were busy
with security arrangements for
a pending visit by Indian Prime
Minister, Narendra Modi.

used for dairy - in contrast to
those in residential areas which
generally held “impure” meat.
