OLDER siblings tend to get the raw end of the stick growing up, but one Irish pharmacist must be wondering when his parents are going to stop showing favouritism.
At 23, Odhran Doherty, became Ireland's latest millionaire, after his numbers came up to land him a 1 million lottery jackpot.
While the lucky win would be enough to spark jealousy in most of us, the ticket was bought for him by his father Liam, while older brother and pharmacist, Shane was left out completely.
The Irish Independent reported Odhran found he'd scooped the prize on 30 Mar, and called his dad to share the good news.
Liam told the paper his lucky son had checked with the man in the shop who was unable to tell him how big the prize was.
"I thought it was an early April Fool's joke or something...when I got to him he came out with his hands above his head and said he was a millionaire."
It was indeed no April Fools gag, and while Odhran will be counting Euros, older brother Shane will be counting pills (many bitter, one would assume) in his dispensary.
Closer to home, on the same night as the Doherty family in Ireland celebrated their win, a lucky pharmacy customer in Goolwa, South Australia has claimed a $2.2 million prize in the state's X Lotto draw.
"I was so excited when I saw the news," Kristie Warren of Goolwa Pharmacy said.
"We are just absolutely thrilled for our customer and so pleased it has gone to a Goolwa local and a regular customer."
