GUIDELINES by the Compounding
Working Party which seek to clarify
simple extemporaneous
preparation and compounding by
pharmacists are currently being
drafted for consideration by the
Pharmacy Board.
The announcement comes on the
heels of the Working Party’s
October meeting where it
discussed options for suitable
definitions for complex
compounding and associated
nomenclature.
As a result of the meeting the
Board agreed there was a need to
identify and develop core
competencies for complex
compounding, and also agreed that
an indicative curriculum would
need to be developed and mapped
against existing courses for
compounding (locally delivered
courses and courses available
overseas).
The Board also advised that it
intendeds for an accreditation
process for compounding courses
to be developed. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 01 Dec 11 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 01 Dec 11
