TWO studies by different groups
have found 100% protection against
AIDS in monkeys that received
monthly injections of antiretroviral
drugs.
There was evidence that one
injection every three months could
work on humans as well, the New
York Times reported.
‘Long-Acting Integrase Inhibitor
Protects Macaques from Intrarectal
Simian/Human Immunodeficiency
Virus’, published in Science, said
the injections could decrease
adherence problems associated
with daily preexposure prophylaxis,
or taking antiretrovirals daily.
