Alprazolam restricted

The Health Consumers Alliance of SA Inc (HCSA) has posted a reminder for consumers that alprazolam will be available from 01 Feb 2014 in a more restricted way. Commonly prescribed to treat anxiety as Xanax, Kalma or Ralozam, alprazolam has been evaluated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration which has decided to limit its use. Patients used to getting repeat scripts of alprazolam will need to be advised of these changes.
