THE new national Australian
Health Practitioners Registration
Board has opened up online
renewals for health professionals
whose registration renewal is due
by 30 Sep.
The AHPRA said it was already
processing “a large number of
postal applications”, but
pharmacists can now apply to
renew online, whether or not they
have already received a renewal
letter from their National Board.
Those with registration due at the
end of the month can call AHPRA
on 1300 419 495, and once their
identity is satisfactorily established,
a user ID and password will be
supplied so that the renewal can be
processed online.
Pharmacists who are not sure
when their registration is due can
check their status on the National
Register at www.ahpra.gov.au.
AHPRA said it will be this week
mailing out renewal notices, but
those who want to renew now can
do so using the new online process.
The authority also said that with
paper-based applications it will be
sending letters confirming approval
of renewals, and is also “updating
registrant details on the public
register as a priority”.
However if there is a delay in the
updates being posted on the
AHPRA website, practitioners are
being told they can use their
confirmation letter from AHPRA as
evidence of renewal of registration
until the online register is updated.
Applicants who do not renew on
time will remain registered for a
one month ‘grace period,’ and the
Board warned that it has no
discretion under the National Law
to extend registration any longer
than the one month period.
Those whose registration lapses
must make a new application for
registration and meet all the
requirements under the National
Law, including providing proof of
identity and qualification and
criminal history checks.
