BRANDED and generic versions of 13 commonly prescribed medicines are 25% cheaper in Australia than the median across 50 countries.
The 2019 Medicine Price Index, compiled by Medbelle, found Australians pay 36.5% less than the median price for generic medicines, and 7% below the median for branded medicines.
The UAE reported the highest generic price more than 1000% above the median, while the US had the highest branded drug cost 428% above average.
