ELECTRONIC prescribing software used by clinicians is set to be upgraded, with funding of $28 million over five years provided in last night's Federal Budget.
The government said the measure would help support a national electronic prescribing system which would contribute to PBS efficiency, compliance, drug safety and data collection.
It also aims to create an electronic prescribing framework to provide an option for prescribers, pharmacists and their patients to have a fully electronic PBS prescription as an alternative to paper-based prescriptions.
