DOCTORS are “important
stewards of health care resources
and good stewardship is an
important part of ethical, best
practice care”, according to a
new position statement by the
Australian Medical Association.
The Statement emphasises
the role of doctors generally in
eliminating wasteful expenditure,
saying that more treatment, newer
treatment or more expensive
treatment is not always better.
There is no reference to
collaboration with other health
professionals to achieve positive
cost effective health outcomes for
