NEW Australian Heart
Foundation supported research has
demonstrated that the combination
of an antihypertensive and a
cholesterol lowering drug (in this
case the standard of care, a statin)
can reduce cardiovasular disease
(CVD) events by 30% with a 40%
benefit in those with hypertension,
suggesting that patients with
hypertension should not only lower
their BP but also consider taking a
statin.
