Recent research has highlighted
that inadequate maternal vitamin D
levels during pregnancy may affect
tooth calcification, predisposing
enamel hypoplasia and early
childhood caries (ECC).
The study, ‘Prenatal Vitamin D and
Dental Caries in Infants’, evaluated
the effect of vitamin D in 207
women prenatally using Univarate
Poisson regression analysis.
The study was published in
Pediatrics and the women had a
mean age of 19 years old, plus or
minus five years.
