Congestive Heart Failure
(CHF) or Congestive Cardiac Failure
(CCF) is increasing in patients with
diabetes mellitus, according to this
week’s RGH Pharmacy E-Bulletin.
One study of hospitalised patients
with heart failure and low ejection
fraction found diabetes to be
present in 40% of participants.
Hospital stays were also longer
with this group as well as higher
rates of hypertension, coronary
arterial disease and chronic kidney
disease.

comorbid diabetes and CHF will be
