Guild partners beyondblue

THE Pharmacy Guild and mental
health charity beyondblue have
developed an online e-learning
module to support pharmacists to
further their knowledge in assisting
patients with depression and
anxiety disorders in their pharmacy,
along with updating their clinical
knowledge in pharmacist learning
around anxiety and depression.
The module includes several video
interviews and an introduction
from beyondblue CEO and
pharmacist Kate Carnell.
The e-learning module titled
Anxiety and depression in the
community – pharmacists playing
a role has been CPD accredited
for four Group 2 CPD credits
upon successful completion of
assessment.

Director of the Guild Pharmacy
Academy and community pharmacy
owner said: “This online e-learning
module will be a valuable tool to
any pharmacist, as well as internpharmacists
in training.
“It is essential that pharmacists
recognise how they can play a
role with patients who have been
diagnosed with a mental health
condition to improve medicine
compliance and provide valuable
support to the community.”
Ms Carnell said with community
pharmacists being at the coalface
of primary health care, they are
“trusted health professionals who
know their customers and are
in a good position to ask them
how they’re going and perhaps
monitor their progress and make
suggestions.
“beyondblue is thrilled to be
working with the Pharmacy Guild
to help increase pharmacists’
confidence about having a
conversation with a person who has
a mental health condition such as
depression or anxiety.
“Pharmacists can also encourage
them to get appropriate help and
support to foster recovery,” Carnell added.
