RGH on neuropathy
July 22, 2013
THIS week’s edition of the RGH
Pharmacy E-bulletin focuses on
neuropathic pain, a frequently
vexing issue for both patients and
health care professionals alike.
Associated with nerve damage,
neuropathic pain presents as
burning, shooting pain, stabbing,
tingling or electric shock sensations.
Frequently numbness will also
present and in general the elderly
are most likely to present with any
of these syptoms.
Therapies include tricyclic
antidepressants, anticonvulsants,
paresthesia or dysthesia.
