FIONA Elsey Cancer Research Institute will again hold the Ballarat Cycle Classic next weekend, Sat 18 and Sun 19 Feb, with the goal to raise $250K.
The event has raised more than $2.6m for cancer research since its inception.
Prof George Kannourakis, Institute Director, is encouraging the community to "join us in the dirt, on the gravel and on the road and help raise important funds for cancer research.
"We are excited to bring the community together.
"This is an important fundraising event for the Institute.
"The 2022 Ballarat Cycle Classic raised $230,000 for our cancer research program, our 2023 goal is $250,000!
"Expanding to two days, the event showcases the beautiful Ballarat countryside and is a testament to its longevity and the community's support for the cause," he said.
Dr Nicole Yap (pictured), a Melbourne-based Breast oncoplastic surgeon and founder of the Australian Breast Care Centre, is cycling in the gruelling 85km event.
