LEGISLATORS in the USA have
announced an agreement on a
new bill which would strengthen
the regulation of “non-traditional”
compounding pharmacies, which
have been linked to several recent
safety alerts.
The legislation will impose
uniform national standards to
pharmacy compounding, as well
as introducing a track and trace
system to ensure drugs are safe
right through the supply chain.
The ‘Drug Quality and
Security Act’ will see traditional
compounders remain under state
pharmacy board jurisdiction, with
larger operations overseen by the
