Stivarga approved

Bayer Australia Ltd’s STIVARGA (regorafenib) has been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. The first oral multikinase inhibitor to treat advanced bowel cancer, it has been approved for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer in patients previously treated with chemotherapy, among other things. Royal North Shore Hospital Department of Medical Oncology and Cancer Trials Unit head associate professor Nick Pavlakis said the treatment had been proven to extend survival in patients with progressive disease resistant to other therapies, offering a new option for patients.
