THE US Food and Drug
Administration has revised its
recommendations on the use of the
Rotarix rotavirus vaccine in children.
The agency said it’s “determined
that it is appropriate for clinicians
and health care professionals to
resume the use of Rotarix and to
continue the use of Rotateq” after
previously recommending against
the Rotarix vaccine (PD 23 Mar).
The decision was “based on a
careful evaluation of information
from laboratory results... [and] a
thorough review of the scientific
literature and input from scientific
and public health experts”.
A PCV1 virus found in Rotarix has
not been found to have any safety
concerns. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 17 May 10 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 17 May 10
