NZ to consider morning after pill

NEW Zealand’s Medsafe regulator will consider a proposal to reclassify selected oral contraceptives (desogestrel, ethinylestradiol, levonorgestrel and norethisterone) from prescription medications to Pharmacist Only. The agenda for the next Medsafe Medicines Classification Committee meeting on 01 Nov will also consider rescheduling melatoninin as a “general sales medicine” as well as moving nitrofurantoin from prescription to Pharmacist Only.
